Your floors covers a large surface area, therefore are a significant element in your interior décor. Unfortunately it can be very difficult to visualise the end result. If you’re considering parquet style flooring, here are a few design tips.
Parquetry flooring is a symbol of wealth and opulence. The ornate symmetrical patterns will give you a new design feature, with a timeless quality…something you’ll be able to enjoy for decades to come.
Parquet floors are an easy way to add interest and character to a blank canvas. The complex patterned design means flooring works best in spaces that are fairly neutral or minimalist. It’s at its best when installed in a room with plenty of natural light to show it off.
It’s not generally recommended to install patterned flooring in smaller rooms. To avoid making your space look even more compact, choose standard planks instead. Stick to furniture that’s plain in colour. A brightly patterned fabric sofa with parquet for instance, could make your lounge look cluttered and overdone. Remember, the floor itself is a feature.
As an example, imagine a luxury bathroom with a white suite and freestanding bath. The room is light, airy and completely neutral. As long as you keep colours and accessories to a minimum, it will look divine with our new marquetry French oak flooring.
