The Advantages of Wooden Flooring

The Advantages of Wooden Flooring

Wood flooring has a great many advantages over other types of floor coverings such as carpets and synthetic tiles.

While the initial cost will be higher than fitting a laminate or carpeted surface, this investment is easily repaid by the longevity wood offers.  It is possible for a wood surface to last more than 100 years, plus it is highly desirable and can add to a property’s value.

Natural wood can fit in with any décor, with different colours and grains to suit both contemporary and traditional styles.  Whereas synthetic flooring is simply unsuitable for some traditional properties, carpets didn’t become commonplace until the 1930s.

Wood is durable and resistant to the wear and tear of daily living. Any major damage to the surface can be repaired and the floor can be restored to its original state.  Daily cleaning is simple compared to other options. A sweep and occasional damp mopping is all that is required for a wood floor to stay fresh. It’s definitely preferable for those that have to clean up after small children or pets.

Unlike laminate or synthetic flooring, wood feels better.  It can retain warmth and is pleasant underfoot, where other surfaces can feel cold and unnatural.  A solid wood floor is ideal for anyone in the house that suffers from allergies. Unlike carpet it is not a breeding ground for dust mites, mould, or mildew.

Choose wood to add warmth, style and distinction to both new and period homes. Select from the extensive range available from Wood4Floors.
